Manchester will now require Uber drivers to undergo state background checks in order to operate in the city.Taxi cab companies have been trying to push the high-tech ride share group out of metro areas, but with little success.Manchester's mayor and the board of aldermen heard from both sides of the issue Tuesday night, and eventually voted 9 to 4 to mandate background checks for drivers within the next 30 days.Uber said it conducts its own checks through an outside vendor.
